Every once in a while you need a fresh start.

I’ve gone through a summer of transition, and it was time for me to concentrate on certain aspects of my art business. Over the last few months I’ve worked hard on fixing some things and adding others.

I want to officially welcome you to the new rickycolson.com!

The new logo

It may feel similar to the previous one, but you’ll notice that I cleaned things up a bit, added a little more personality and a splash of color.

The clock imagery represents the importance that nostalgia and history play in my artwork (as well as simply representing my love for clocks).

I love clocks

The logo went through a few iterations.

The blue clock hand was actually a pencil at first. I intended for it to look like it had swiped down in a drawing motion, creating the letter C. The C is also supposed to look like a crescent moon, in honor of two important women in my life who happen to have names that mean moon.

The three dots represent the suffix III, as I am a third generational Richard.

Moving on…

The new shop

About a year ago, I was diving into Welcome to Autumn, and, like now, I felt the urge to clean up and organize what I could on rickycolson.com. I switched to a faster hosting site, redesigned everything, and quickly moved on to focus on my 3d work.

Well, I’ve returned to my main site and my animal silhouettes.

I admit that I hit a wall with the series as my urge for 3d work took over. I wanted, however, to come back to the silhouettes somehow, but it took me some time before I found a way to do that. You’ll have to stay tuned to see what’s new with the animals.

Coming back to the redesign—the site felt a little too dark before, so I switched back to a light and colorful theme to match my animal silhouettes. Each page has been refreshed and made easier to navigate. I added some new sections to the shop including collections like Best Sellers and Ricky’s Favorites.

The new products

I’m also happy to announce that I have some new products coming to my shop very soon, which include some more affordable options than my paintings.

I’m trying to get these out to you before the holiday season, but I want to make sure that they’re ready. You can sign up for my mailing list to get notified when they launch.

So take a look around, and let me know what you think of the redesign!
